Dermaplaning
Dermaplaning is a safe and simple procedure for exfoliating the epidermis to eliminate the skin of the peach fuzz – vellus hair (soft facial hair) and also remove dead skin cells. A surgical blade is used to take off the build-up of dead skin, blocked pores and built up oils that can get trapped within the vellus hair.

Is this right for you?
Dermaplaning is an excellent choice if you want to:
Smooth rough or dry skin
Reduce fine lines and superficial acne scars
Remove peach fuzz for a flawless makeup application
Improve skin brightness and texture
Enjoy a gentle exfoliation with no downtime
However, dermaplaning is not suitable if you have:
Active or cystic acne
Sensitive or inflamed skin conditions (like eczema or rosacea flare-ups)
Open wounds or skin infections on the treatment area
What is the downside of dermaplaning?
Temporary redness/tightness for 12–24 hrs. Sometimes tiny nicks can happen. Can trigger breakouts if you’ve got active acne/congestion.
This treatment is not ideal with inflamed rosacea, eczema flare-ups, open lesions, isotretinoin us.Results are short-lived (3–4 weeks) so it’s maintenance, not a one-off cure
(Myth-buster: the hair doesn’t grow back darker or thicker.)
Is dermaplaning actually good for your skin?
Yes, for most skins when done professionally.
Instant smoothness + glow (removes vellus hair + dead cells). You get better product penetration and makeup application. It’s gentle versus chemical exfoliation, so good event prep!
Skip if skin barrier is compromised or acne is active.
How much does dermaplaning cost in the UK?
At Exthetics Exeter we often combine Dermaplaining with other treatments e.g. LED light therapy or more advanced facials. These start at £100 per session.
